Depictions of the Mundane: Marie Leclerq’s Silent Rebellion
Marie Leclerq, a self-proclaimed non-artist, creates digital compositions that challenge the conventions of contemporary art. Preferring to call her works “pictures” rather than “art,” Leclerq captures everyday scenes with a quiet vibrancy. Her digital paintings, later printed onto canvas, portray moments of simplicity that resonate with an understated emotional depth. Yet, the art world remains divided: while some find profound meaning in her minimalist style, others criticize her depictions as shallow, dismissing her practice as more hobbyist than artistic.
