Welcome to the Museum of Modern Art, Department of Rejected Artists — the world’s finest institution without an actual building.
We’re a home for artists who dared to be different, and got politely (or not so politely) shown the door by the art world.
When government cuts drained our funding, we had two options: compromise or improvise. We chose Wi-Fi. Our museum now lives on the internet — open all day, every day, powered by Wi-Fi and stubborn optimism. You’ll find us on our website and Instagram, where the walls are endless and the admission’s always free. No queues, no gatekeepers, no VIP openings. Just art, attitude and the occasional glitch.
Chief Curator Fanny Broodthaers handpicks the artworks and artists who refuse to play by the rules — the originals, the misfits, the beautifully stubborn.
Curious why we exist?
Read our interview with Fanny Broodthaers — before it, too, gets rejected.

At the Museum of Modern Art, Department of Rejected Artists, our team is small but precise — devoted to what others overlook.
Fanny Broodthaers, Chief Curator of Rejections, turns refusal into recognition, giving every discarded idea a dignified frame.
Rudi Duerinckx, Chief of Unrealized Displays & Webmaster, builds exhibitions that exist mostly in theory — or online, depending on the Wi-Fi.
Jean Chapeau, Official Photographer of Rejection, captures what the world prefers not to see, making invisibility look beautifully composed.
Every rejection deserves its reflection.
